Association of Wolbachia with Gene Expression in Drosophila Testes

چکیده

Wolbachia is a genus of intracellular symbiotic bacteria that are widely distributed in arthropods and nematodes. These maternally inherited regulate host reproductive systems various ways to facilitate their vertical transmission. Since the identification many insects, relationship between has attracted great interest. Numerous studies have indicated modifies variety biological processes host. Previous Drosophila melanogaster (D. melanogaster) demonstrated can affect spermatid differentiation, chromosome deposition, sperm activity early stages spermatogenesis, leading dysfunction. Here, we explored putative effect maturation using transcriptomic approaches compare gene expression Wolbachia-infected Wolbachia-free D. adult testes. Our findings show affects testes, most differentially expressed genes involved carbohydrate metabolism, lysosomal degradation, proteolysis, lipid immune response were upregulated presence Wolbachia. In contrast, some putatively associated with cutin wax biosynthesis peroxisome pathways downregulated. We did not find any predicted be related spermatogenesis datasets. This work provides additional information for understanding Wolbachia-host relationships.

Association of agr Gene Expression with Staphylococcus Aureus Virulence Genes in BHI Broth

Abstract       Background and Objective: Agr is the most important regulatory system for the expression of Staphylococcus aureus virulence factors in different conditions. Agr acts as a quorum sensing system in this bacterium which is activated by increased cell concentration during the transition from logarithmic growth phase to stationary phase. Its role is to up...

Wolbachia-Mediated Antibacterial Protection and Immune Gene Regulation in Drosophila

The outcome of microbial infection of insects is dependent not only on interactions between the host and pathogen, but also on the interactions between microbes that co-infect the host. Recently the maternally inherited endosymbiotic bacteria Wolbachia has been shown to protect insects from a range of microbial and eukaryotic pathogens. Mosquitoes experimentally infected with Wolbachia have upr...

Dynamics of Wolbachia pipientis Gene Expression Across the Drosophila melanogaster Life Cycle

Symbiotic interactions between microbes and their multicellular hosts have manifold biological consequences. To better understand how bacteria maintain symbiotic associations with animal hosts, we analyzed genome-wide gene expression for the endosymbiotic α-proteobacteria Wolbachia pipientis across the entire life cycle of Drosophila melanogaster. We found that the majority of Wolbachia genes a...
